Aluminium Grades | Description | Process | Advantages |
---|---|---|---|
6061 | A versatile and easy-to-machine metal. It is corrosion-resistant, non-magnetic, and heat treatable. | CNC Machining | Electronic hardware, prototypes, aircraft fittings, camera lens mounts, couplings, marines fittings and hardware |
6063 | 6063 Aluminum is more corrosion resistant and formable than 6061 Aluminum. It is not ideal for high strength applications, but can be used for exterior railings and decorative trim | CNC Machining | Electronic hardware, prototypes, aircraft fittings, camera lens mounts, couplings, marines fittings and hardware |
6082 | A medium strength alloy with excellent corrosion resistance. It has the highest strength of the 6000 series alloys | CNC Machining | Electronic hardware, prototypes, aircraft fittings, camera lens mounts, couplings, marines fittings and hardware |
5052 | 5052 Aluminum is the easiest aluminum to weld and is exceptionally corrosion resistant against salt spray and salt water. It is easy to form, heat treatable, and non-magnetic. | CNC Machining | Electronic hardware, prototypes, aircraft fittings, camera lens mounts, couplings, marines fittings and hardware |
5083 | Alloy with magnesium and traces of manganese and chromium. It is highly resistant to attack by seawater and industrial chemicals. Alloy 5083 retains exceptional strength after welding. | CNC Machining | Electronic hardware, prototypes, aircraft fittings, camera lens mounts, couplings, marines fittings and hardware |
7075 | 7075 Aluminum is a hard, high strength alternative to 6061 Aluminum . It is often used for parts in high-stress applications, and is also corrosion-resistant, non-magnetic and heat treatable | CNC Machining | Electronic hardware, prototypes, aircraft fittings, camera lens mounts, couplings, marines fittings and hardware |
2014 | It is easily machined in certain tempers, and among the strongest available aluminium alloys, as well as having high hardness. However, it is difficult to weld, as it is subject to cracking | CNC Machining | Electronic hardware, prototypes, aircraft fittings, camera lens mounts, couplings, marines fittings and hardware |
Alsi10mg | AlSi10Mg is a widely used alloy in LBPF that combines light weight and good mechanical properties | 3D Printing | Electronic hardware, prototypes, aircraft fittings, camera lens mounts, couplings, marines fittings and hardware |

Aluminum melts easily, and if you were to try to grind down aluminum, it would start to melt and the aluminum would coat the wheel. … But this will only cause more friction and heat up the wheel faster. If the wheel heats up enough, it can explode.
No.
Only casting grade alloys like Alsi10mg & Alsi7mg are currently available.
Think3D has been a great partner for us in supplying COVID-19 test cartridges on-time despite the pandemic challenges. When we came up with a new requirement needing a workforce of more than 25 people, think3D took up the challenge and arranged the workforce within 2 days. I highly recommend think3D for any manufacturing needs.

As a professor doing research on new materials, I needed a strong industry partner to assist us. think3D perfectly fit that bill. think3D team is highly knowledgeable on all manufacturing technologies and the team is very prompt in responding to all our requests. My research has been very successful, thanks to think3D team.
Dr. Karthik Chetan V
Asst. Professor, BITS Pilani
We found issue with one part at the time of assembly and needed a quick replacement. think3D team has quickly responded to our request, redesigned the part and printed it using metal 3D Printing and delivered in 3 days time. The part came out really well and the design was better than that of the actual one.
